Anger usually isn’t the whole story.
Do you find yourself reacting more strongly than you intended? Losing patience quickly? Saying things in the moment that you regret later?
Maybe the people closest to you have started walking on eggshells. Maybe disagreements escalate faster than you’d like. Or maybe you hold everything in until eventually it comes out all at once.
Anger itself isn’t necessarily the problem. It’s an emotion—and often an important one. But when anger begins affecting your relationships, communication, work, or the way you feel about yourself, it may be time to understand what’s underneath it.
Sometimes anger gets tangled up with…
- Stress and feeling overwhelmed
- Hurt, disappointment, or rejection
- Feeling unheard or misunderstood
- Difficulty communicating what you actually need
- Relationship or family conflict
- Past experiences that continue to influence how you respond today
- Anxiety, fear, or feeling out of control
- Substance use or recovery
- Patterns you learned a long time ago that simply aren’t working anymore
We can untangle the reaction from what’s really happening.
Anger management therapy isn't about teaching you to never get angry. It's about learning to recognize what happens before, during, and after anger takes over.
Together, we can slow down those moments and explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and relationship patterns underneath your reactions. We’ll work on recognizing triggers earlier, communicating more effectively, setting boundaries, regulating intense emotions, and responding in ways that better reflect who you want to be.
You don’t need to walk into therapy already knowing why you react the way you do.
Sometimes we start with the anger—and untangle from there.
